Ultraband GaN / GaAs MMIC die

Authorised Ultraband Technologies Distributor

Ultraband's RF MMIC range spans microwave through mmWave for high-speed communications and radar, built on GaN-on-SiC, GaAs pHEMT and InP HEMT processes with an emphasis on linearity, low noise and power handling.

The Wi-Fi parts listed here run from a single 3.3 V supply where specified and come in 1.5 x 1.5 mm DFN or 3 x 3 mm QFN packages, so they drop straight into router, access point and IoT module designs. The AN5404 and AN5405 LNAs improve receiver sensitivity with noise figures below 1.5 dB, while the FM5337 and FM5755 front-end modules deliver up to 22.5 dBm of linear output power.

For Ku and Ka-band designs, see the Ultraband mmWave MMIC range.

Understanding the Difference: Discrete LNA vs Front-End Module

What is a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA)

An LNA is the first active stage in a receiver. Its noise figure largely sets the sensitivity of the whole receive chain, so a low-NF part such as the AN5405 (below 1.2 dB) lets a radio hear weaker signals. A discrete LNA gives you full freedom over filtering, switching and layout.

What is a Front-End Module (FEM)

A Wi-Fi FEM integrates the transmit power amplifier and supporting front-end functions in one package, specified for linear output power at a given EVM. Modules such as the FM5337 and FM5755 reduce board area and design time for routers, access points and IoT devices.
